An innovative brand on the cusp of new technology requires an extraordinary website. Goals for REX included leading a new category of online home purchasing and designing a new brand from the ground up. This startup provides a revolutionary way of initiating and facilitating the sale of a home online without requiring the use of a real estate agent. Online retail sales have exploded over the last several years, and selling a home online has huge practical and financial benefits. With a core team of five people our web design agency provided REX with user flow analysis, strategic thinking, user experience expertise and stunning web design. The target audience for REX is tech savvy and sophisticated and extremely comfortable with online purchasing. Strategists spent several weeks researching user flows and ensuring the user experience was both intuitive and enjoyable. We took it upon ourselves to guide our client through several business processes that had yet to be ironed out by the REX engineering team. The new visual design captivates and serves multiple audiences, allowing sellers to list properties without a traditional broker, and enhancing brand loyalty among potential buyers.

With so many real estate firms and brokerages, the brand identity for REX had to fuel recognition while providing visual differentiation. We decided custom typography was required for this high-visibility brand. Descriptive words for the brand’s target audience included “in-the-know”, tech savvy and sophisticated. Our team of specialists with skills across branding, strategy and design created mockups that took three separate concepts and blended them into a single brand mark. Taking a page from worldwide accommodation leader Airbnb, this approach is inspirational and provides a story behind the unique typography and design elements that comprise the new logo. All elements were intentionally designed to advance the brand strategy and to work together as a whole. A brand style guide was also created for REX to provide a support system of color, imagery, typography and composition that makes the entire guide cohesive and differentiated.

Responsive

Responsive web design continues to be the standard in providing visitors with an optimal viewing experience across various devices. With REX it was essential that buyers and sellers be able to communicate efficiently on their mobile phones. Email notifications and text message keep members up to date on the status of an offer and important phases of a home buying transaction. Both mobile and tablet design were created to make it easy to get on-demand home or transaction information whenever it’s needed.

Results

REX is based on the belief that informed consumers are ready for the internet to facilitate the most important, yet difficult and time consuming purchase of their lives– the home. Combining personalized digital tools with tips and know-how from a proprietary database to members who are eager to remove the hassle and high costs associated with purchasing or selling a home. From the user’s perspective this website removes the real estate agent and puts buyer and seller in direct communication with one another. Helping both parties make informed decisions and that lead to action.
